Tawny Frogmouth - more progress

This scan doesn't show the complete drawing, but this is the progress I've made so far.  I'm finding the patterns in the feathers challenging but I think I've got the basics there now, need to refine it more and start on the branches

Progress on baby

I didn't have much time today but I managed to get a little bit done on the baby frogmouth...

Tawny Frogmouths

Today I started on a new commission!  An adult and baby Tawny Frogmouth.  I'm drawing this on A3 sized paper so it doesn't quite fit in the scanner, so here is part of it at least.  The branches are actually connected down the bottom, I think it's going to turn out well.  Hope you like the composition I have chosen Lyn?

Jewel of the Forest

I made a couple of little adjustments and I'm calling it finished now.  I've decided to name it "Jewel of the Forest".  I've had an amazing response to this painting on various art forums so I think I definitely have a future in oil paint which is pretty exciting!

What's on my easel

I had a whole 2 hours to myself yesterday while hubby took the two boys out, a very rare occasion indeed.  I decided I'd do a small oil painting and remembered about a photo of a crimson rosella I had permission to use as a reference so I set about painting it.  I wanted to keep it nice and loose with bold colours.  This is how far I got in 2 hours...

Cat finished!

Finished the cat today, I decided to do a pale green background, at first I thought I may have done the wrong thing but I think it looks ok.

Cat update

Got a little bit more done on the cat today.  There is something bugging me about the face, not sure what it is whether there are some angles that a little bit off, but anyway I'll be continuing with it, I'm quite happy with the way the colours are looking so far.

Millie & Amy - nearly finished

I think Millie & Amy are nearly finished!  As this is a large A3 sized drawing I have been unable to scan it only photograph it, but I recently purchased Photoshop Elements, so I can now stitch two scans together easily.  There is a slight grey shadow where it is joined but otherwise I'm really pleased I can do this as it's so hard to photograph drawings.

Impressionist Apples

Just for a change of pace, I painted this yesterday while following a mini tutorial I found on YouTube.  I really love paintings in the Impressionist style and it's something I want to learn how to do.  This took about an hour to do, oil on canvas board.
