Blue Tit

Yesterday morning I drew this gorgeous little bird, coloured pencils on pastel paper.  I'm so happy with the way it turned out.  Thanks to UK photographer Judy Kennett for the use of her beautiful photo as a reference.

Latest assignment

Finished this assignment for the Pet Portraits Diploma today, study of a dog with a ball in it's mouth, acrylic on canvas paper.

Chihuahua finished!

I am so ecstatic about this piece, I believe it's my best drawing yet.  Here it is, I wasn't sure whether to do a background or not but decided in the end it didn't need one.

Dog Nose Study

Finished this dog nose study in oil for the Pet Portraits Diploma.  I'm finding paint fairly frustrating as I don't have as much control as I do with a pencil, but I love the results.

Cat finished!

I sat up till 11.30pm last night finishing this cat and I'm pretty happy with the outcome.  It really is quite challenging drawing a white animal, I've learnt a lot from it.

Cat progress

Made a bit more progress on the cat today, wow it's difficult to draw white animals!  I'm finding this quite challenging.  Still need to do more work on the background.  I'm planning on doing whiskers with white gouache as white pencil just won't show up.  Hoping to finish this tomorrow.

Cat WIP

Started this cat today in coloured pencils but I'm not happy with my paper choice, I think I should have gone with a darker paper seeing it's a white cat.  I might work on it a bit longer to see if i can make it work or I may have to start again...
