Finished the horse today, really happy with how it turned out.

Worked more on the horse today.  Got a bit frustrated with it, I can't get the colour right.  The horse in the photo reference is a lot darker than this still.  Not sure what to do about the background either...

Brialyn Boathouse Gallery

Dropped my fox drawing off at the Brialyn Boathouse Gallery this morning for the amateur drawing competition.  If anyone is in the vicinity of Frankston please check out this gallery, there are some amazing works on display.  They currently have a "Birds, Animals & Reptiles" exhibition on, I especially liked the scratchboard work, I've never seen those in real life before and they are stunning.

Tiny Visitor

Thought I'd try my hand at doing an ACEO sized piece of art (trading card size - 3.5 x 2.5 inches).  Thank you to Judy Kennett for the use of the beautiful reference photo.  This is a little field mouse who came to visit Judy's garden.

Sketch

Did this little sketch yesterday of a girl using black and white pencils on blue pastel paper.  I love drawing in monotone.  I think she would make a good fairy so I'm thinking I might try my hand at a fantasy piece and draw her again, full body with wings....

Fox is finished!

Finished the fox yesterday, really pleased with him.  Can't wait to drop him off at the gallery for the competition!

This is what the fox looks like after the 2nd drawing session, need to work more on the fur still and add a bit more red, I'm pleased with how it's progressing.

Started work on this fox today, coloured pencils on pastel paper.  I'm thinking of entering this into a local art competition I just found out about.  The Boathouse Gallery in Frankston is inviting animal drawing submissions from amateur artists.
