Etsy shop update

Well, it's been about 8 months since I've been into art and I am excited to report that I am now confident enough to start selling my artwork.  To start I have listed 3 drawings "Olivia", "Nest" and "Red Robin".  All are available through my Etsy shop.  I am also offering free shipping for a limited time.  Please visit my Etsy shop at

Red Robin finished!

Finished the red robin today, I'm really happy with it.  I've toned down the halo around the bird and defined the birdseed a bit more too.  It was certainly interesting working on a canvas as opposed to a smooth drawing paper, I think I'll definitely try it again.

more progress

Made a start on the bird feeder and the birdseed, almost finished now I think.

Robin update

Decided I'm going to go with what's in the photo and try and draw the wooden bird feeder and the seed with the green background, this is what it looks like at the moment.

Robin phase 2

Worked more on the robin this morning, he's basically finished I think, maybe a little bit more tweaking.  Not sure what to do with the background yet whether I should copy exactly what's in the photo or do something else...

Work in progress, a red robin in coloured pencils on watercolour canvas board.  Thought I would try something different this time using a board instead of paper.  The surface is very rough to work on and at first I didn't think it was going to work out but now I'm starting to like it.

Dog Collar Study

Finally finished this dog collar study for the Pet Portraits Diploma.  I've been working on this on and off for a couple of weeks now.  I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.  Coloured pencils on watercolour paper.

Finished this little drawing today of a Vole (like a mouse but bigger).  Thanks to wildshotsbyclive on Flickr for the use of your wonderful photo.  This piece is approx 8" x 6", coloured pencils on watercolour paper.

I'm not sure if I would tackle something like this again, it got a bit frustrating towards the end but I'm pleased with the results.  It's the kind of picture that looks better from a distance I think.
